Kurşunlu Monastery, located within the borders of Kuşadası district of Aydın province, is a Byzantine structure. While the exact date of construction is unknown, it is estimated that it was founded in the 11th century. Because of the Greek word meaning of the monastery, which they named “Panagia Kurşuniatissa” by the Greeks, Hz. It is understood that it was dedicated to Mary. It is known that at the time the monastery was built, it was established to protect from the attacks of iconaperests* and irreligious people, to provide education, to hide, to worship.
